The annual Triple Tree Fly-In has turned into a “can’t miss” event on everyone’s Fly-In Calendar.  Aviators from across the globe anxiously await the Fall to make the annual pilgrimage to its manicured 7,000-foot grass runway to experience one of the fastest-growing general aviation events in the country. During the 2022 Fly-In, they had over 800 airplanes visit throughout the week from 43 states nationwide.  During that week, the Triple Tree Aerodrome had over 1,700 aircraft movements and a record 804 movements on Saturday. These statistics made the Triple Tree Aerodrome one of the busiest airports in South Carolina (for that week). NONE of this could happen without your support! Despite all the growth, they still hold true to their core values of Fun, Fellowship, and Hospitality.

If you are planning on attending Thomasville Fly-In this weekend, please take a moment and RSVP as soon as possible and let me know if you are planning on Flying in for the day or camping for the weekend.  We need a plane count for the Thomasville Fly-In folks.  They are going to reserve parking for us to be able to park all together.  You will also need to print out the attached sign and place in you airplane windshield, so they will know you want to park with the FSAACA group. and we will be parking up front where we were last year.  Also is more information about the Fly-In below.

Thanks,

Kim

November - 10-12

A blanket permit has been acquired for a gathering at Blackwater Airfield, just submit the pilot name and N-number to Bobby Capozzi, RAF Florida Liaison,
bcapozzi@theraf.org.

A gathering at Blackwater Airfield on November 18-20, 2022. Enjoy hiking, fishing, canoeing, swimming, socializing and relaxing!

A variety of campground amenities and recreational opportunities are readily accessible nearby at Krul Recreation Area’s campgrounds with improved camping sites and restrooms with showers.

There is a nice swimming lake close by, and trails through the dense woods and suspension bridges over ravines provide that feeling of truly getting away from it all. The Blackwater River winds through the area. Named by the Choctaw Indians, the tannin-stained water contrasts sharply with the white sandy riverbed. Floaters and paddlers enjoy its leisurely flow beneath the dense forest canopy.

For more information about Blackwater, visit the Airfield Guide listing, or read the RAF’s Featured Airstrip article on our website.

An airfield day use fee of $2 is charged by the State of Florida and must be paid online prior to arrival. Krul Campground has several payment options available for its camping sites and showers.

Special arrangements or accommodations:

1. Check airstrip for limb(s), fallen tree(s), or obstacles before landing.

2. Park planes off of airstrip near the tree line at the southwest end of runway so that other landings will not be obstructed.

3. Campers do not pay a day use fee.  Day use charge is paid online.  Charge when entering Krul campground is $1.85 plus

tax per person.  Children six and under do not pay a day use fee.  Pay day use fee at FloridaStateReserveAmerica.com

Click on the 3 horizonal lines - menu bar, then click on Web Store, then click on day use fee icon that says $1.85.  Follow

instructions and pay by credit card.  Camping charges are paid by check and sent to the Munson office.  Charges are $10.00 per night per camping site up to 5 people and up to 3 tents per site.  Campsite charge increases $2.00 per person above 5 persons up to 8 people.  If someone in the camping site is using the Krul showers, the charge for the campsite is $15.00 per night.

Honorably discharged military, active-duty military, seniors 65 or over, or 100% disabled pay $10.00 per night even if showers

are used.

I will collect payment on arrival, it has been reported that rangers have also been coming by to collect

Please contact me by email for further information and to RSVP.

Thanks!
